You need to hop into a car and wind your way up from the shores of Lac Neuchâtel, deeper through the Jura Mountains, to appreciate the full scale of Bvlgari’s recent watch boom, which is almost entirely at the ‘hands’ of three models: Bvlgari Bvlgari, the starkly modernist Octo and its octagonal cousin Roma, whose softer sculpting sits somewhere between the two. All three represent Swiss watchmaking’s most 21st-century rethink of what constitutes ‘sporty’ and ‘masculine’.
